Introduction to dendrochronology

- 1 lecture and 2 (two hour) labs
Mediterranean and New World applications of dendrochronology to archaeology, art-history and environmental studies. Introduction and training in dendrochronology and its applications through participation in a research project dating and analyzing ancient to modern tree-ring samples from both the Mediterranean and Near Eastern region and the Upper New York State region. Seminar class, supervised reading, laboratory/project work, fieldtrips(s) in local area. A possibility exists for summer fieldwork in the Mediterranean.
